The probability density function (PDF) of normalised maximum spectral energy of pseudorandom binary sequences {1, -1} is approximated empirically as a prologue for the statistical connection of spectral flatness to sequence correlation properties. The startling appearance of apparently anomalous δ function discontinuities in the resulting PDF is explained in terms of the random walk problem, and suggests possible distinct properties of sequences linked to those discontinuities
