This paper is mainly focusing on the dynamic authentication data management for the heterogeneous interworking authentication among WiMAX and 3GPP. The 3GPP AAA server in HPLMN performs the authentication for the 3GPP/WiMAX UE by using the authentication vectors (AV) obtained from HSS. Moreover, when the 3GPP/WiMAX UE leaves and reenters the same PLMN (HPLMN or VPLMN) within its avaliable period of threshold periodic interval (TPI), it is unnecessary for the first registered 3GPP AAA server of UE to retrieve new Avs array from HSS, if there are still unused AVs for the previous PLMN. It should be pointed out that a long TPI period results in fewer accesses to the HSS, so as to reduce the signaling cost further. Finally, from the simulation results, it can be conclude that only through adjusting the TPI period dynamically in accordance with the system parameters, the system can achieve the best performance.
