This article presents a new structure of monopole field on the basis of the method for obtaining ideal quadrupole fields within closed boundaries to which is applied a continuously varied potential with position. Further optimum design is made according to a large number of computations of boundary potentials by using the finite element method, and three sets of structures, termed as A‐1, B‐1, and B‐2 type, respectively, are proposed. The agreement of the results obtained by a field‐plotting method with those of the analysis is satisfactory.
