A method to measure pressure in a fluid, using external gauges has been developed. A linear dependence has been found between the amplitude of an acoustic pulse propagating inside a part of the vessel wall and the pressure of the internal fluid, in the range from 1 to 650 bars. A simple interpretation of this dependence is given.
