This paper describes the use of printed parasitic elements, which are placed in the radiating aperture of the planar monopole antenna to suppress the radiation at multiple frequency bands within the ultra wide frequency range. The chosen frequency bands are not necessarily restricted to the existing wireless services. The effectiveness of the proposed method compares favorably with the other methods aiming for a band rejection within the UWB: The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) at the rejected bands is more than 30, while the antenna gain is reduced by more than 10 dB.
