In this paper, we propose a multiband monopole antenna with coupling element for mobile handset. The proposed antenna is directly fed from 50ohm line, so easy to match with typical RF circuits. Moreover, the designed antenna is able to be operated in quad-band, which is GSM850, DCS 1800, PCS 1900, and UMTS2000, are also small, lightweight, and inexpensive.
