This paper investigates the influence of the end effect on the back-emf wave forms of flux-switching and doubly salient permanent magnet brushless machines, in which the magnets are located on the stator. Their electromagnetic performance is predicted from two-dimensional and three-dimensional finite element analyses and validated experimentally.
