Effects of tensile stress on the magnetization properties of Co base amorphous wires

The effects of tensile stress on the magnetization properties of negative magnetostriction constant amorphous wires have been investigated. The magnetization change due to tensile stress is completely reversible and shows no hysteresis. Stress insensitive region appears at low magnetic field for (Co/sub 0.94/Fe/sub 0.0672.5/Si/sub 12.5/B/sub 15/) wire, but at high magnetic field for Co/sub 72.5/Si/sub 12.5/B/sub 15/ wire. These properties are explained well from the calculation of the induced anisotropy energy due to tensile stress.
