A system for computer-aided mechanical engineering design is presented. The system adopts multi-inheritance frames as a scheme for knowledge representation and includes a design module that involves dynamic lists and weighted elements as a mechanism for learning. A common-sense knowledge module is added to enhance the representation of the design experience and assembly rules.<>
