This paper reflects upon the implementation of a CADCAM system undertaken as the central theme of a teaching company programme, in which an academic institution collaborates with a local company to implement some aspect of advanced manufacturing technology. The paper describes the design and manufacturing procedures in operation prior to the implementation, proceeds through the actual implementation and ends by considering the system so developed.
