The application of numerically controlled machine tools grouped in cells has proved effective in batch manufacture. Further advantages are gained by designing to suit such machines, making use of computer modelling and deriving, from the model, all the downstream data such as detailed drawings, machine drive tapes, production planning and machine simulations by means of suitable programs.
