Link quality monitoring mechanism is an indispensable means to protect network health. With ensuring certain monitoring accuracy, to reduce energy consumption as much as possible is a critical issue of wireless sensor network. Considering the feature of relatively less traffic in event-driven wireless sensor network during no event state, the paper proposes a link quality monitoring mechanism named DSTC, which is based on PRR. And EWMA algorithm is employed to smooth the results of monitoring. Experiments prove that compared to the normal mechanism, DSTC mechanism can reduce energy consumption dramatically and extend the lifetime of network, while ensuring certain accuracy of measurement.
