The erroneous sensor reading due to the harsh environmental conditions usually leads to Byzantine faults. Therefore, fault- tolerance becomes a crucial problem in target detection for wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose hierarchical value fusion scheme and it is validated that, the algorithm can enable energy-efficient target detection with some increase in the processing time delay compared with that of the value fusion algorithm, thus offering an attractive alternative scheme for the time-delay insensitive target detection application.
