Operated under rated conditions, the induction motor (IM) is highly efficient, but the efficiency is greatly reduced with the normal conditions changed. So efficiency optimization has significance for economic saving and environment protecting. This paper summarizes the main efficiency optimization control strategies appearing recently years, and presents a new fuzzy logic based hybrid on-lion minimum input power search control strategy. Unlike other fuzzy methods that need simulation calculation to get the coefficients of scaling factors, the gains derivative method of this strategy utilizes the research results of loss model control to do on-line scaling factor calculation, which can mark out the optimization course in advance. Meanwhile, the systematic design for new fuzzy sets and membership functions (MFs) can make control system converge fast, with avoiding the oscillation around the optimal flux. The simulation and experiment results confirm the validity and usefulness of the proposed techniques
