Zonal partitioning of power market occurs due to some deficiencies in transmission or generation system. In new deregulated environments removing zonal partitions and market unification is an important goal for transmission expansion planning. The first step in process of unification is determination of zones. This paper presents a new approach for zonal partitioning of the power markets using a novel fuzzy Monte Carlo simulation considering both probabilistic and possibilistic features of the forecasted system load. The work is illustrated using 30-node IEEE test system.
