Many ITS communications system can greatly benefit from multimedia services like RTC (real time communications) and multimedia services, including multimedia messaging, streaming, VoIP and push to talk. This paper describes a solution based on VoIP, multimedia messaging integrated via SOA on a service delivery platform and deployed in vehicle. In particular we discuss how using a service layer IT approach based on a SDP the following aspects: VoIP over wireless and cellular networks, secure multimedia service via VPN over such networks and continuity across wireless, networks and off coverage spots. The solutions have been demonstrated in real life proof of concept deployments of demo vehicles.
