A 3-D finite element model is used to analyze the shielding effectiveness of an eddy-current shield applied to a 10/0.4-kV substation. The influence of the shield extension is shown. Furthermore, the insertion of a door in the shielded wall was found to create a locally elevated B-field. The results show that the magnetic field from substations can be shielded so that disturbances on VDT (video display terminal) screens in the vicinity can be avoided
