In order to understand the flexibility of the combined power plant in the mode switching process, this paper studied the dynamic parameters of the synchro-self-shifting (S. S. S.) clutch, a key power transfer unit for the plant. We built the mathematical model of force analysis for the parts of the S.S.S. clutch. By simulation on the mathematical model and experiment on the built flat form about the mode switching process, we acquired the characteristics of dynamic parameters, especially the switching time, the meshing time and the torque pulse, which provided a base for the study of the flexibility and reliability of a combined power plant in the switching process, and offered a reference for the design of power transfer units and their corresponding control system.
