A robust and efficient genetic algorithm (GA) for solving optimisation problems requiring fast convergence is presented. A new reproduction operator is proposed that employs a gradient-like technique and thus performs the reproduction task deterministically. This feature makes the new GA suitable for small chromosome populations and real-time applications
