AVS1-P2 is Chinese next-generation video coding standard and becomes one of the international IPTV standards in 2007. In this paper we present various techniques used to implement AVS video decoder on Texas Instrumentspsila DM642 DSP. And propose optimization methods for AVS1-P2 I-frame decoding. The experimental result shows that our design improves the performance a lot without any loss in video quality. It demonstrates the success of our techniques. The optimization techniques used for I-frame decoding are also suitable for P-frame and B-frame decoding in AVS1-P2 decoder.
