In this paper we propose a new power-aware routing protocols TBPR (Time-based Broadcasting for Power-aware Routing) for wireless ad hoc network. Unlike conventional power-aware protocols, our protocol not only considers accumulated power consumption as a routing metric, but also utilizes a mechanism of controlling rebroadcasting route request packets to optimize the power conserving performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed protocol outperforms other power-aware schemes: MCPR, MBCR and AODV.
