Sensor networks specifications are highly dependent on the application defined for the network. Some networks need full coverage while others can fulfill their goal with a partial coverage. Therefore it is important to have an algorithm which can satisfy full range of requirements as a universal solution. Thus a new pre-specified coverage method has been introduced which can be applied in very vast applications. The specifications of this method can be adjusted with two degree of freedom called alpha and P0. Utilizing them the network coverage can be controlled in the disseminated field very accurately while considerably lowering the number of active nodes. In the present paper we tried to optimize the selection algorithm of active nodes for percentile coverage goals of more than 80%, i.e. achieving the desired percentile goal while using a minimum number of active sensors and thus achieving a higher life-time for the whole network.
