The performance of 64-QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation), 225-QPRS (quadrature partial-response signalling) and 256-QAM in the presence of cochannel interference (CCI) and thermal noise is evaluated. It is found that the amplitude-modulated CCI causes more degradation than the single sinusoidal CCI. Measured data of a 256-QAM modem in a CCI environment show good agreement with the simulated results.
