The paper describes a highly shaped beam telemetry antenna developed for the ERS-1 satellite payload. The antenna comprises a symmetric reflector of shaped profile and a circularly polarised dual-mode feed horn excited by a crossed dipole. Measured radiation patterns are shown for the antenna in free space and in the presence of the satellite back structure
