This paper presents the results of a study on a dual-slot antenna where round-ended banana-shaped longitudinal slots are used. The slots are etched on the bottom metallic cladding of the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The design procedure and experimental results at X-band are presented. A good agreement is obtained between simulation and experimental data. The antenna exhibits a return loss of 19.77 dB and a gain of 8.05 dB at 10.22 GHz. Compared with the rectangular dual-slot antenna, the antenna shows an improvement in radiation efficiency by more than 4.98%.
