A fast maximum intensity projection (MIP) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Compared to other conventional rendering methods for medical images, it can acquire MIP image at high speed and with high quality. The processes and experiment results of proposed algorithm are introduced based on the analysis of the projection equation. Results show that the proposed algorithm needs no pre-process time and additional space to store temporal data. It can satisfy the demands for acquiring MIP picture quickly and precisely.
