In this paper, a novel technique employing Genetic algorithm is proposed for controlling chaos in switched mode power converters with chaotic dynamics by optimizing the system parameters. The optimization process entails the selection of system component values in a switching converter, in order to prevent the system entering the chaotic regime. The approach avoids extensive computations that are usually found in other optimization techniques. Simulations with the Buck converter are conducted to show the effectiveness of the approach.
