On the basis of the analyzing existing grid resource discovery mechanism and combining the advantages of P2P resource discovery algorithm, the grid IP multicast (GIM) model and GIM resource discovery algorithm is put forwarded GIM model improves the IP multicast resource discovery mechanism through adding the resource information in IP multicast process, as the use of IP multicast mechanism, nodes linked only to find the resources requested, so it can reduce the consumption of network bandwidth effectively. the GIM model is qualitative analyzed from systempsilas cost, dynamic, flexibility and resource discovery efficiency, and so on, and the results show that this model is adapt to grid resource characteristic, can obtain higher efficiency of resource discovery with smaller system cost. Finally the simulation experiment of GIM resource discovery algorithm is carried out and the results verify the availability of the GIM model.
