This paper presents a method of dynamic response analysis of a linear pulse motor under closed loop control, in which characteristics of the magnetic circuit and the control circuit of the motor are taken into consideration. This method was applied to a double-sided linear pulse motor with permanent magnets, and the influence of current control on the accelerating performance was investigated. The validity of the results was verified through comparison of computed and measured results. In addition, the optimum conditions for control were obtained from the results for the average dynamic thrust in each control mode.
