Computer industrial applications are integral part of nowadays measurement systems. In this article two different industrial applications of vision systems were described. The first one - "Yarn hairiness analyzer" measures the real length of the fibers protruding from the yearn core. "Thermo-Wet" - the second application, determines surface properties of metals in high temperatures. Due to use of innovative solutions, especially application of image processing and analysis algorithms, the original results were achieved. They reflect real values of measured properties. The significance of image segmentation quality in both considered applications was explained. The universal image segmentation algorithm was introduced. It can be successfully used in both considered applications.
