In this paper, we present the analysis and experimental results of a single-element beam steering antenna array with 180deg scanning range. The antenna array is implemented with the use of coupled oscillators synchronized through phase locking. With the use of a phase locked loop and an external reference signal, this array can precisely steer its main-beam by a single control voltage. Its scanning range is able to be significantly extended by adding prescalers in the phase locked loop. The radiation characteristics are measured to verify the theory.
