A new two-dimensional (2-D) finite-difference method with condensed nodes is presented for guided wave structures in frequency-domain. By solving the four transverse field component eigen equations, the dispersion characteristics and mode fields are obtained. The new method is verified by two application examples, and it can get more accurate fields at boundaries or interfaces than those by conventional Yee's cell method.
