A novel and compact conical shaped antenna having semi-wire structure is proposed. The wires composing the conical shape are bent in order to minimise the height of the antenna. Simulations and measurements exhibit a 8.6:1 impedance bandwidth (100-860 MHz) with VSWR below 2.1:1, omnidirectional radiation patterns and high gain values in spite of the small size of the structure.
