The design, installation, and operation of a lightweight linerboard digital drive system are reviewed. Electronic operator stations and a data highway linking the operator stations, drive sections and master director were used. A supervisory system providing sectional status as well as a diagnostic message display was installed. Maintenance considerations, as well as "hindsight" design changes and recommendations for future installations are also discussed.
