By analyzing the aeronautic channel, it is known the channel has the ability of sparseness. Using the common channel estimation will bring out high-order matrix computation. To improve the speed of the convergence and convenience of implementation, a new algorithm on OFDM aeronautic channel estimation using GAIC (generalized Akaike information criterion) and RPC (phase-rotated Chu sequences) is presented in this paper. The algorithm is to gain the order of channel and the place of tap by GAIC. In this algorithm RPC is used as train sequence to reduce the complexity and computation. The simulation proves the algorithm needs less resources and calculation and the error of estimation is remarkably reduced. So the algorithm can trace channel variations efficiently.
