The paper investigates the calculation of slotting permeance harmonics in induction machines using reduced finite- element models. It is shown that magnetic saturation has little effect on the stator slotting permeance harmonics. However, care must be taken to ensure that realistic values of fundamental air- gap flux density are employed when the rotor air-gap permeance harmonics are calculated, to avoid spurious results.
