Currently available tools can help establish a common interface for various problem solvers in different fields. By integrating these tools, researchers can start bringing together the best work in science and engineering, perhaps forging an entirely new field. The multiphysics systems available today concentrate on physics problems commonly found in industrial and commercial applications. The focus is on including classical physics, such as electromagnetic wave propagation, fluid dynamics, and thermal diffusion, but we can look forward to these environments including quantum physics. As areas such as quantum optics, low-temperature condensed fluids, and quantum computing become part of the multiphysics systems, they'll become environments that join all kinds of physics into single computational packages.
