A novel band-notched ultra-wideband wide-slot antenna fed with a microstrip-line is presented. The antenna is composed of a circular microstrip patch and a semicircular arc cut on the ground of the microstrip line. By embedding a simple U-slot in the circular microstrip patch, an ultra-wideband (UWB, 3.1-10.6 GHz) operation with a notched frequency band can be obtained. The U-slot has a length of about one-half wavelength of the desired notched frequency. The measured results also show that the proposed antenna has stable radiation patterns over its whole frequency band.
