An efficient image compression technique based on simple arithmetic operations "arithmetic compression system" is enhanced by incorporating repeat reduction. It has been observed that the performance of the new method is better in many cases especially for face images. Significant improvement is achieved for low PSNR requirements. Encoding and decoding is also very fast because it operates on integers only.
