Discharge parameters, affected by electrode approach speed, appear their limits for charge voltage Vc =800 V in electrostatic discharge through a handheld-approaching-small rod from charged human body, which reveal the transition to avalanche from surface emission in short-gap ESD. Discharge process is dominated by avalanche phase for Vc = 800 V, which produce discharge current with blunt peak. Discharge parameters extreme values, analyzed with electric circuit theory, are results from mutual action of distributive capacitance and channel resistance across the gap during approach of the electrodes. Mutual action of distributive capacitance and non-linear channel resistance is the dominative cause for the existence of extreme values at special charge voltage Vc = 800 V. Circuit theory has been employed to elucidate the threshold phenomenon.
