In this paper, fractal geometry is applied on a PVEBG (Pad and Via EBG) structure to achieve multi-frequency bandgap feature. The relationships between the fractal orders and the bandgap position are also investigated. To verify its multi-frequency bandgap features, the fractal EBG structure is inserted between two microstrip antennas to reduce the mutual coupling, and 12.4dB and 7.5dB mutual coupling reduction is observed at the two working frequencies.
