Advances in microring-resonator-based photonic structures and novel architectures are described that demonstrate the first low-loss telecom-grade filters, wide tuning, polarization transparency, and fully transparent (dispersion-free) wavelength switching using high-index-contrast (SiN- and Si-core), strong-confinement waveguides.
