This paper describes a methodology for designing MAP-based VLCs, which have been demonstrated to outperform classic VLC approaches in terms of BER performance, although it can be applied to any MAP-based scheme. The architecture presented is based on differential metrics, which allow area savings of up to 40% without losses in BER or FER performance, by reducing the complexity in metrics and LLR calculations. Some examples are explained in order to show the great area savings of the proposed method.
