In wavelength-routed optical networks the GMPLS control plane utilizes RSVP-TE distributed signaling protocol for dynamic provisioning of connection requests. In such a dynamic scenario, reservation collisions may significantly degrade the connection blocking probability. This paper proposes the Reservation Collision Avoidance scheme which uses an RSVP-TE extension for reducing the blocking probability due to colliding reservation attempts.
