In this paper we examine the interaction between strategic commitment to price and downstream innovation, and the relatively downstream innovation, pricing, and the optimal quoted delivery time for the channel operates in a make-to-order fashion. We use this analysis to show how the performances of the time-sensitive channel are affected by the interaction between full commitment and full flexibility.
