Aiming at the problems in general MAC protocol, we designed a network protocol called WICN-Z which can satisfy the real time requirement of industrial wireless network. A layered data link layer mechanism is proposed. The under layer adopts the conventional protocol CSMA. It is compatible with the CSMA mechanism. The upper layer applies the virtual token protocol to manage the connected mechanism of wireless nodes. It can control and reduce the collision. We also regulate the setting up and recovering process of Token-Ring and the control methods to handling the entering and removing of mobile stations. And five related frame structures are defined. It is likely to become a protocol of the standard and practical wireless network of industrial control.
