An upgrade program on TRIUMF's PDP-11 hosted CAMAC-based data acquisition systems has begun. The new analysis and control hosts are to be VAXs interfaced to CAMAC by the HYTEC System Crate Architecture. The CES ACC 2180 STARBURST is to be the front-end processor, off-loading the handling of real-time events from the VAX. The hardware arrangement and software elements of the new system are described. The progress made to date on implementing the system and preliminary performance data are reported.
