A Junior and Senior level laboratory experiment in microwaves, demonstrating the propagation properties of a parallel plate waveguide, is presented. Transmission and reflection characteristics of the waveguide are studied near the cutoff frequency of the waveguide. The experiment is simple, inexpensive, and easily understood by inex-perienced students.
