The integrated design of new product and the associated production processes is a highly effective method for cutting down time-to-market and new product development cost. Here Genichi Taguchi's robust design with dynamic output characteristics is a promising tool that helps achieve those integrated designs. First, the primary principle of Taguchi robust design is introduced. Next, an integrated design model incorporating Taguchi methods is constructed. Subsequent analysis of experimental data yields the optimal level combination of control factors and the ideal experimental conditions that simultaneously facilitate design of new product and process. Finally, an example serves to illustrate and support the validity of the integrated design method.
