To be applied in huge buildings of different scale, a distributed monitoring and control system with multi-layer logical and physical structure is proposed and designed. The system owns a modularized hardware platform, which can be re-organized according to real requirement. The fundamental part of the system is designed on the basis of field bus and advanced microprocessor. Multiple field buses are used in the system to decrease the hardware cost and exert the advantages of each protocol. To avoid the data miss and collision between peer-to-peer communications, an improved datagram protocol is adapted. Based on the system information flow, the system software with real-time operating system is implemented. The system has been put into field application and shows an excellent property of intelligence, robustness and flexibility.
